Our team and the UCR Trialogue project have recently been expanded and enriched by the addition of our working student, Laura.
TFL: Welcome to the team, Laura! We’re glad to have you here. How did your urban planning studies lead you to us?
Laura: In my master’s program in urban planning, I’m focusing intensively on the topic of sustainability, as it represents one of the central challenges of our time. Climate change is already having a noticeable impact on our cities and highlights how important it is to adapt urban spaces to these changes while also developing measures to minimize their effects as much as possible. Sustainability concepts play a crucial role in this regard and are a key focus of my studies.
TFL: What are you currently learning from your involvement with the UCR Trialogue?
Laura: I find it particularly exciting to apply the knowledge I’ve gained at the university about climate adaptation and conceptual planning in a practical setting. At the same time, I’m learning how valuable international collaboration within interdisciplinary teams is. At every meeting, I realize just how crucial open communication and the exchange of different perspectives are for successful projects. This not only allows me to expand my professional knowledge, but also to continuously develop my personal and communication skills.
TFL: Is there a book, movie, or documentary that has left a lasting impression on you, and why?
Laura: One movie that has had a particularly profound impact on me is Into the Wild. It inspired me to reflect on the relationship between humans and nature, as well as on our society. At the same time, it powerfully conveys how important interpersonal relationships are for a fulfilling life. The quote “Happiness is only real when shared” sums up this message and has become an important guiding principle in my life.
