At Admiral Objekt Wäsche und Arbeitsbekleidung GmbH, environmental awareness has long been part of the company philosophy – now the company’s own CO2 footprint has also been determined: “I enquired at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and got in touch with The Future Living. This gave us a tool for calculating our carbon footprint. It was learning by doing.”

In a pilot project, the IHK Ostbrandenburg supported five companies in determining their ecological footprint. Together with the consultancy firm “The Future Living”, these companies drew up their carbon footprint and derived measures to improve it. Three companies were particularly convincing.

Companies must know their carbon footprint. Currently still voluntary for small and medium-sized companies in Germany, the obligation to provide evidence of carbon dioxide emissions will be extended over the next few years according to company size. In a pilot project, the East Brandenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK Ostbrandenburg) worked with consultants from “The Future Living” to support five companies in determining their carbon footprint. FORUM spoke to Carolin Fürst and Charlotte Francke from “The Future Living” about the project. They also talked about why companies should start before they are required to provide evidence.
